In my previous blog, I spoke about how I often find myself trying to rush design and create a finished product before the get-go. The two postgraduates that came and spoke to us had some very interesting insights and experiences within the world of design and one of their main points were 'don't rush products'. The importance of research, prototyping, and design iterations are invaluable. Whilst this point was made I also become aware that there is a possibility of spending to much time in this phase of the design process, and that care must be taken not to dwell on too many different ideas and commit to one.
The use of other people was another point made by the graduates that I found very interesting. They made the point that using your friends and coursemates to help generate ideas is a very good tool. Designers often have this pride where they want to design everything themselves and don't want to use other people's ideas, but actually designers are always just taking over people's ideas and improving them.
