The Royal Bank of Scotland has released a new £20 note has been designed to portray a different view of our nation, and highlight the beauty of nature within Scotland. This new interpretation of the note breaks the mould of old famous historic men or women, with their dull expressions plastered all over our money. Now this group of designers from Stuco, Graven and timorous beasties have created a design which we can all relate too and be proud of, as we have all experienced the attraction of Scotlands wildlife.
I believe that this new banknote will possibly make scots more conscientious about caring for our wildlife, and thinking more about the current state of our planet, even if this is on a subconscious level. This being due to the daily reminder of elegant, beautiful animals.
I say this, but I also find the final banknote quite contradictory. This is because the banknote is made of from a plastic (synthetic polymer), yet plastic is causing so much harm in our oceans, and so to advertise fish on the front of a plastic note has mixed connotations.
