After talking about lots of products I thought were great design I decided to ask my flatmate, Fraser about what he thought was a great design that he owned. His response to this was almost instant, being his Xplus humidifier.
This humidifier helps add moisture into the air to reduce dry skin, cold and flu symptoms along with a few other small health benefits. Now Fraser stated that he knew that these features would have little or no impact, but it was the implication that it could possibly help. The aesthetic of the product was the main selling point for him as it was very slick looking and he liked the wooden finish, as it made the product seem of very high quality. Even though this products use is not tremendously impactful, that we can see anyway, it demonstrates how much the aesthetic of a product can add to its selling point.
