Toast beer is an award-winning beer company that uses waste bread to create fresh craft beer. In the past year, Toast have saved 851,388 slices of bread, amounting to the height of Everest. Their aim is to reduce food waste whilst creating a delicious and eco-friendly beer. They go by the slogan 'beer that does the world of good'.
Food waste has many different uses once it is done being a food source. It can be used to create compost which can then be sold off to farmers or it can be turned into biogas which can then be used for energy. The ability to turn food waste back into a desirable consumable good is not only impressive but beneficial. Each year roughly 10,000 tonnes of byproducts from brewing are dumped in the UK, so this approach of reusing food waste helps eliminate this problem.
